History
The old name of Yalıköy is known as "Podima". During the Ottoman period, the village hosted residents engaged in fishing and agriculture and was particularly known for its maritime activities during this period. In the Republican period, its name was changed to Yalıköy and today most of the local people continue to engage in fishing and beekeeping.

It is quite easy to reach Yalıköy by private vehicle. Visitors setting off from Istanbul can reach Çatalca via the TEM highway or you can either take the Istanbul Airport Çatalca road towards Çatalca and exit from Subaşı or Kestanelik exits and come via village roads. You can reach Yalıköy in about an hour. For those who want to go by public transportation, you can come by bus line 404 departing from Çatalca.

Warning : Some 404 buses go to Karamandere neighborhood, they do not pass through Yalıköy, and you can only get on with İstanbulkart or a bank/credit card, cash is not accepted.
