Fishing in Yalıköy

Balık İllüstrasyon

Yalıköy is a village on the Black Sea coast and fish such as bluefish, bonito, bonito, sea bass, turbot and horse mackerel are caught in different seasons. Local fishermen in Yalıköy generally fish using nets and spearfish. In addition, long lines, spinning fishing from the shore and fishing by attaching spearfish to the line are also used. Since there is no port in the village, fishermen are forced to go out to sea in small boats. Although there have been promises since the 1980s that a port would be built in the village, no progress has yet been made in this regard.

Yalıköy Canned Bonito Fish

Canned bonito fish, which started to be produced in Yalıköy, was prepared with a special method so that the fish could be stored for a long time. However, it quickly became widespread thanks to its taste. The reasons why bonito fish is preferred are its oily structure, the fact that it can be caught in the autumn months and the fact that it can be prepared before winter.
